haiku my heart ~ Queen's Tea
Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:15AM Queen's Jubilee tea...
Will you take cream and sugar?
Sip, nibble... delights!
*****
The custom of afternoon tea
has long been a delight of mine!
Recently I enjoyed it in the company of one of my dearest friends,
Kimberly Saward of Ariadne's Thread,
in the heart of London.
This weekend,
in sunny Northern California,
I will have two opportunities to sip tea
and nibble on delicacies in celebration of Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee.
And I would like to share here with you
my most recent find...
this amazing antique Japanese sugar and creamer set.
I can not believe
how beautiful the craftsmanship
of these hand-painted vessels,
they are a feast in themselves!

It is going to be quite a celebration in the UK. And I'll no doubt partake in many cups of tea, as well as a few beers.
Ah, UK and tea go together I guess :) I prefer coffee more, but that tea does look very appetizing, Lea. Thanks!
I love taking Tea..my only drink other than water ..I will enjoy the celebrations in UK through TV..I can imagine the fun after having seen the marriage of the prince beamed so lavishly..the world over.. Thanks..have a nice tea..RS:)
Aah, so lovely, Lea! How I wish I were there to lift my cup with you, pinkies out oh-so-nicely like the posh ladies we are! XO
Those are indeed beautiful pieces. I'd love to share a spot of tea, cream, no sugar please. You say Northern California, I was just there two weeks ago, behind the redwood curtain near Eureka. I waved. Love the photo and the Haiku. Glad you had the experience of a high tea. Maybe someday I'll have, no, I'll MAKE the chance.
Peace
Absolutely lovely .... and so civilized .....well-done
delightful and whimsical haiku ~ enjoy the 'tea party' ~ thanks, ^_^
such perfect vessels for the art of tea! always i find welcome, friendship and cause for celebration with you.
i have the best story about high tea. i will share it with you someday in your garden when i am blessed enough to cross your door.
Much hoopla -- sixty years is a long time!
Oh, the colors, the textures, the words. Though I watched the 2 hour special on the jubilee earlier this week, I had forgotten that today was the day. I've got to go turn on the TV and see if it is there.
Oh how I wish we could spend the afternoon together and enjoy a real, English 'high tea'.... it's evening overhere now so I will raise a glass of something else ;) and toast to you!
